"Could not authenticate to server" message

I just downloaded Google Talk but when i try to log in i get a window with the message "Could not authenticate to server"
i have tried all day without results.

Im using Win2000 SP4 and i dont know what can be happening, hope someone can help, thanks in advance.

This is curious - I'm also on Win2k SP4, so that's not a problem... are you sure you:
1. Spelled your GMail address correctly?
2. Typed the password in correctly?

That's pretty much all I could think of that would be possible _easily fixable_ problems - for anything else, you'd probably want to send a support request...
